It’s a dream that you didn’t know you had It’s a language we all understand The whole world in the palm of your hands Someday I pray to give it back Give it all back I'm living the American dream But it don't mean a thing Somehow whatever you need Ends up so bittersweet Spent all your time chasing down a dime but you thought you turned it around so don't look down because you're standing on the edge and it's only in your head and I can't remember what you said because I've been living the dream and it don't mean a thing and somehow it's everything I need but I never knew you could be so sweet I'm living the American dream But it don't mean a thing Somehow whatever you need Ends up so bittersweet I never knew you could be so sweet

I don’t want to die and leave behind my likewise I don’t know why something calls me back here every time I just want to get lost in the mountainside get my heart right I just want to sit down by the riverside and clear my mind Find a place to play, one day all of this could be yours Just a little faith, learn about all the things that love is for Not far away, all that you’ve never seen before It’ll never be the same I don’t want to try when things just don’t feel right I don’t want to fight when ain't nobody wrong and ain't nobody right I just want to get lost in the mountainside get my heart right I just want to sit down by the riverside and clear my mind I don't wan to cry it just leaves me empty inside I don't want to fight when ain't nobody wrong and ain't nobody right I just want to surf in the oceans and let my spirit fly Never gonna go and let you down Looking at you looking at me in the eyes you're my likewise
3.
Didn't want to be a part of a world that lied about having enough What would it take for you to take up arms and fight for what you love Thought I found something to get behind when I was really just giving it up would even matter if I knew just what I want On and on It’s a phenomenon Loving you for all you are I'll be your surrogate
4.
My lover won’t let me win I know I better stop before i begin I been wondering about all these things in the wind I know we’re moving on to better things My lover just like my twin Found another waiting in the wings Seasons changing every other day I don’t need a reason to find a better way OOOOooohhh Round and round Love is the only thing, when you give it away, you get back more than you had
5.
I’ve been working every night and day Just trying to find my way They say its easy as 123 Counting down to your XYZ Do it for the love That will be enough But don’t you give it up Give it up for the love I’ve been working every day and night Just trying to make things right Going back to my ABC’s Love it enough to set it free Do it for the love That will be enough But don’t you give it up Give it up for the love
6.
I know you’re not to blame but you were in the way of something I always try to claim every dog has his day Building it up Burning it down What was once enough Will only let you down Building it up To be better than before When you are left with less You can find something more OOOOooooohhhhh I know you’re not to blame but you were in the way of something I always try to claim every dog has his day coming We almost got away but you had to say something We almost had it made but you never let me get away Building it up Burning it down What was once enough Will only let you down Building it up To be better than before When you are left with less You can find something more OOOOooooohhhhh I wanted it too I wanted it to mean Everything Everything to you
7.
Your eyes woke up to a velvet sunrise Your life spoke up about a blind white surprise Out the window of a moving car Wondering where you are going blowing in the wind Five years from now Where do you see yourself You won’t believe it now but you could be anybody else Where do you see yourself no too far from now will your dreams be on the shelf will you work it out somehow Out the window of a moving car Wondering where you are Going Blowing in the wind Your eyes close on a setting sun Looking for a sign in the sky Just drops dripping but still getting deeper now Don't let your head sink below the waterline Try to find a way to keep it going Fill your sheets with the wind
8.
You already know what you needed to know I try to understand you You try to understand me It makes a world of difference when we do know exactly what it means Just have faith You know I try to understand There's nothing like that warm sunlight There's nothing like you and I There's nothing like that warm sunlight on my face There's nothing like you and I you're my saving grace You're my saving grace You're my favorite place You're my love, you're my life, you are my light

about

This project began on a snowy Spring morning in the foothills of the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains. As nearly two feet of snow dumped I decided to record a batch of songs in their most raw, stripped down, naked and honest form. These songs have appeared or are in the cue to appear on other Spiritwell albums, however the intentional lack of production here brings forth a character that I think is important to express as in many cases the songs are born in this format: just me and an acoustic guitar. As some of these versions are being presented as they were written others had to be treated and /or completed to be able to be presented in this format where the were written or conceived via other modes. The recordings are all one takes with no overdubs performed over two days in early February when the city was shut down from an epic Albuquerque low snow storm. There are two different digital formats, Volume 1 and Volume 2 under the same name, however the CD is available for purchase with all tracks consolidated on one disc. I hope when you listen you are able to experience and enjoy a bit of the magic that I was conjuring that morning.

I want to thank Jason Smiley for the inspiration and motivation to complete these songs in a way that has made for a project I wouldn't have otherwise considered.
